Princeton, MN (May 17) – Over 100 drivers signed in to the pit Friday for a night of WISSOTA Dirt Track Race Action at the Princeton Speedway. Mother Nature delivered a quick shot of rain just before race time, and as the night progressed and features began, the skies re-opened, and the night was called early after completing just two features. Joey Jensen and Jeff Ekdahl grabbed the two trophies for the night, while other classes will be determined at later dates.
The WISSOTA Street Stocks were the first feature of the night with Jeff Ekdahl and Kaden Woodie on row one. An immediate caution slowed the drivers, but as the race resumed Ekdahl claimed the lead. Ekdahl began to stretch his lead as cars covered the ¼ mile race surface. Ekdahl’s lead was gone after a caution slowed the drivers, and Woodie was at his door. Woodie continued to chase Ekdahl the remaining laps, but Jeff Ekdahl held the lead and took the win. Kaden Woodie, Thomas Worth, Levi Randt and Rachel Boston rounded out the top points.
A 24-car field of WISSOTA Midwest Modifieds filled the track surface for the next race event. Grayson Pratt and Mitch Weiss led the stacked field to the green and they battled for first. A caution was quickly triggered, and the field was reset with just one lap in the books. As the race resumed, Joey Jensen wheeled his way to the lead and separated from the pack while other drivers raced two and three-wide for positions. A couple of cautions kept the drivers slow, and a break was taken while some cars were untangled, but Jensen remained in command when the race resumed. With more cautions keeping the drivers at a stop-and-go pace, Cole Boston moved into the second point and gave a run at Jensen’s #30. However, Joey Jensen held his line and grabbed the checkers with the remaining top points going to Cole Boston, Paul Ripley, Jason VandeKamp and Ryan Putnam.
The WISSOTA Super Stocks took the field with Joey Jenson back out alongside Dylan Kromschroeder on the first row. As the supers took the green, Kromschroeder edged out a slight lead, but Jensen remained close. Drivers were nearly four wide as they battled for positions, and the yellow flag waved as a car spun in turn three. The drivers found their new starting spots when mother nature unleashed her furry. Rain poured from the sky and unfortunately the remainder of the race night was cancelled.
Make-Up features will be scheduled in the upcoming weeks for the Super Stocks, Mod Fours, Hornets and Modifieds as the night was considered a complete show. Next week, the Minnesota Modified Nationals presented by FYE Motorsports will make it’s first ever stop at the Princeton Speedway. WISSOTA Modifieds, Midwest Modifieds, Mod Fours, Super Stocks and Hornets will flock to Princeton on Thursday evening to kick off night one of the four-day race event across three racetracks and two states. Racing will resume at 7:00pm.
