Princeton, MN (August 16) – With multiple tracks cancelling due to weather, the Princeton Speedway was able to complete a full night of WISSOTA Dirt Track Race Action which also featured the High Roller Winged and Non-Winged Sprint cars as well as the MN Micro Sprints. Clayton Wagamon, Ashton Schulte and Dustin Holtquist claimed the WISSOTA wins of the night while Carter Jensrud, Ken Hron and Mike Mueller took Sprint wins.
WISSOTA Midwest Modifieds were the first feature of the night with Bud Martini and Ashton Schulte on row one. The top two battled nose to nose for a couple laps until Schulte broke away with the lead. Martini held second as TJ Wyman felt pressure from Joey Jensen and Jason VandeKamp for third. Contact then occurred among the drivers fighting for third, and a caution was triggered. The field was reset with Schulte alone in front while VandeKamp challenged Martini. Ashton Schulte however, led the remaining laps without any complications and took the win with Bud Martini, Jason VandeKamp, Ryan Putnam and Joey Jensen as the top drivers.
The Traditional High Roller Sprints filled the clay for the next feature with Jake Kouba and Ken Hron leading the way. Hron edged out a slight lead with Kouba and Scott Brandt to his rear. Brandt kept after Hron and didn’t let him get away as they separated from the field with laps passing. Hron began to put drivers down a lap but the yellow soon waved and slowed the pack. Hron brought the drivers back to green with eight laps left on the board with Kouba and Brandt to his rear. Ken Hron remained in command as the race came to a close, and took the win with Jake Kouba, Jack Berger, Scott Brandt and Mike Mueller rounding out the top points.
Amanda Carool, Ashton Schwinn and Trevor Siltman went three-wide when the WISSOTA Mod Fours went green, and Schwinn pulled away with the point. Robert Holtquist however made his way to the front position with Blake Hawker and Dustin Holtquist in tow. Dustin took over the second point and flew by Robert while Hawker challenged Robert Holtquist for second. The yellow then waved as both Robert Holtquist and Blake Hawker suffered car troubles, and exited the speedway. Dustin Holtquist brought the drivers back to green and remained in the point until the checkers waved. Points two through five went to Josh Litzau, Gerald Nohner, Connor Bruss and Ashton Schwinn.
The Winged Sprints took the green with Kevin Bradwell snagging the lead with Mike Mueller in second and Chase Viebrock to third. With a handful of laps in the books, the top drivers were already with slower drivers as Mueller and Viebrock chased after Bradwell. Cars covered the entire track surface as Mueller raced to Bradwell’s door. They were wing to wing for the lead as Viebrock kept close. Mueller moved forward with the lead while Viebrock made his way past Bradwell. Viebrock looked ahead at Mueller, however with just a lap to go, Mike Mueller snagged the checkers and took the win. Second place went to Chase Viebrock with Kevin Bradwell, Owen Carlson and John Vaillancourt rounding out top points.
Brenden Newville and Noah Berglund led the MN Micro Sprints to the green and the lead position switched a handful of times before the first lap was done. Caleb Moen claimed the top point with Carter Jensrud in a close second and Joe Snow back in third. The top two drivers separated from the field and kept close as they rubbed tires for the position. Jensrud claimed the lead and soon caught slower cars with a few laps to go. The checkers waved with Carter Jensrud grabbing the win followed by Caleb Moen, Joe Snow, Tyler Pelofske and Mason Seubert scoring two through five.
The WISSOTA Modifieds closed out the night’s program and Devin Fouquette took the lead with Clayton Wagamon in second. Tyler Kaeter and Eric Lamm battled for third to the rear of Wagamon until Wagamon moved forward. Wagamon slid to the high side and challenged Fouquette for the lead, then dropped low on the surface and took the point. Wagamon wasted no time and stretched his lead as Kaeter and Lamm remained in a battle for third. Lamm broke away from Kaeter, and then took second as Wagamon caught slower drivers. A couple drivers suffered difficulties the final lap, but Clayton Wagamon wasn’t one of them, as he rolled his #14w into victory lane. Eric Lamm, Devin Fouquette, Tyler Kaeter and Travis Schulte wrapped up the top five drivers.
The Princeton Speedway will be off next Friday as the Ogilvie Raceway hosts their popular Truck and tractor pull, however will be back in action to close out the 2024 race season on Friday August 30th. All regular WISSOTA classes will be in action along with the Micro Sprints to close out the season.
